Responsabilities:
Ensure referencing of documents: Scan documents submitted for translation: a) Determine whether all or part of the text has been taken from previously translated sources and identify those sources in the official language of the United Nations.
Competencies:
Professionalism: Knowledge of language terminology and translation techniques. Ability to research, select, organize and summarize information. Ability to apply policies and practices of documentation processing in the UN environment.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of secondary school education or its equivalent. Formal training in linguisitics or equivalent training and on-job-experience is desirable.
Experience:
A minimum of five years progressively responsible experience required, of which two should be in language services within a multilingual international organization. Experience in providing reference support to language staff is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage.
Others:
Excellent computer skills (e.g. MS Office and Excel) are required. Knowledge of reference and translation tools such as Multitrans, Trados, DtSearch and Documents Control and Performance Monitoring System(iDCPMS), desirable.
